Jan Motbey was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and has lived there all her life. She is a widow with two grown sons and six grandchildren. "I have always believed in and know there was a spirit world," she says, "but was only encouraged to write in my 40s, starting with poetry, then cards, and later inspirational teachings. I retired to Kurnell to live with my lovely Shepherd and two cats, and maybe do a little calligraphy."
